The 2026 Mediaeval Market, scheduled to take place on January 30th, 31st, and February 1st, has been approved by the Orihuela City Council.
The successful bidder will completely assume all costs associated with the contract’s execution, in addition to contributing a fee to the municipality. This special administrative contract will be executed through an open procedure, with no costs incurred by the municipal treasury.
Anticipation
This tender is being launched in advance for the first time, enabling interested companies to prepare their proposals in advance and ensuring more effective event planning. In this tender, the City Council does not assume any costs, as it is a fee-based contract. The successful company is responsible for all organisational costs and pays for the event’s operation.

The cost
The successful candidate will be responsible for the estimated cost of the project, which is €118,096, as per the economic study that accompanies the application. The minimum anticipated revenue is €133,100. Additionally, the successful bidder is required to pay a minimum fee of €2,284 to the City Council in order to occupy the public domain. This fee will be tendered at an increasing rate and will be one of the criteria for award decisions. In other words, the organisation that generates the greatest contribution will be awarded the highest score on this criteria.

One of the largest
One of the most iconic events on the cultural and festive calendar of the municipality is the Orihuela Mediaeval Market, which draws thousands of visitors annually and contributes to the municipality’s commercial and tourist activity. The Mediaeval Market is located in the heart of the historic centre, spanning from Plaza de Santiago to Plaza Santo Domingo. The festival community is invited to participate in the inaugural speech and at the stalls. This management model ensures the quality and continuity of the event, with an extension to 2027 and 2028, without incurring any expenditure on the municipal budget, as guaranteed by the City Council.
