The Race to the Dawn, one of the most iconic races on the Costa Blanca, will take place on Sunday, August 31st. The race will traverse the Santa Pola coastline, offering breathtaking vistas of the sea and the sunrise. The organisers have increased the number of available spots from 1,500 to 1,800 in response to the strong demand for registrations.
This is the most enjoyable 6,250-meter run for runners, a brief family race that the Santa Pola Athletics Club organises to encourage healthy habits and to experience the joy of waking up early and going for a jog while watching the sunrise on an idyllic route that always overlooks the Mediterranean.
On Sunday, August 31st, the twenty-ninth edition of the Race to Dawn will commence at 7:30 a.m. from Avenida Santiago Bernabeu and conclude at the same location after travelling a distance of 6,250 meters.
The race of the summer in the province of Alicante will once again surpass the record number of participants. The club has decided to increase the number of available spots by 300, bringing the total to 1,800, as a result of the significant demand from runners. The 1,500 spots that were initially available have been sold out.
Coca Cola and barley water to regain strength
Another unique aspect of this race is that at the conclusion, participants are provided with liquid refreshments and the traditional Coca-Cola Boba (coca-cola with barley water). Additionally, they are permitted to enjoy unrestricted swimming at the Santa Pola beaches.
Other services offered by the organizers on this day include a cloakroom, chemical restrooms, MyLaps timing, medical services, accident insurance, and photography upon arrival, via the website and social media.
Collection of aprons
For those registered, please note that race number collection will be open from Monday, August 25th to Saturday, August 30th, in the morning from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., and in the afternoon from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Santa Pola Athletics Club headquarters on Avenida de Albacete s/n, next to the Manolo Maciá stadium. The retrieval of race numbers and T-shirts will not be available on the day of the race, which is Sunday.
This race is closely associated with the prelude to the patron saint festivities in honour of the Virgin of Loreto, and as is customary, the 2025 Fiesta Queen and her Ladies-in-Waiting will lead the starting fire and the award ceremony.
