The Tu Murcia municipal app now has a new feature that will allow residents and visitors to monitor noise levels. This information, provided by the 18 sound level meters spread around the town, enables individuals to access data in real time. The app has three different noise levels: continuous (LAeq), maximum recorded (LAFmax), and minimum recorded (LAFmin). It also includes a colour-coded legend and categories to make the information more understandable, with noise levels ranging from “very quiet” to “deafening.”
José Guillén, the Councillor for Urban Development and Smart Cities, stated that “one of his department’s goals is to promote more pleasant urban environments, where information on noise helps create quieter public spaces and promote a better quality of life for citizens.” According to municipal sources, the City Council uses this instrument to provide citizens with objective and accessible data on the acoustic impact of the urban environment, strengthening its commitment to transparency and sustainability. Furthermore, they state that the goal is to gradually increase the number of sound level meters in the municipality in order to provide a more comprehensive perspective of the acoustic impact across the region.
Guillén highlighted the fact that “the incorporation of sound level meters into Tu Murcia represents another step in building a connected city, where technology is at the service of the quality of life of the people of Murcia.”
Murcians may now check the noise level in their region using a new feature on their phone. This is in addition to the app’s other features, which include real-time traffic information, the whole Murcia Fair schedule, and other cultural events in Murcia. They can also view pollen statistics, heat and rain warnings, open park and garden locations, including those with children’s play spaces and gerontogymnastics facilities, as well as the availability of benches and shaded spots. As a result, the City Council suggests that it will continue to progress its smart and transparent city plan by improving and expanding the Tu Murcia app, which they claim has solidified its place as a benchmark platform for managing municipal services and data.
