The Santa Pola City Council (Alicante) has banned the Gran Playa beach to swimming after a diesel fuel spill, “most likely” caused by a boat, according to municipal sources.
The city council stated that the Local Police Maritime Service discovered the spill late Sunday, September 7th, which was “not” substantial. As a result, this coastal enclave has been closed for precautionary reasons.
The local administration will keep this beach closed until the Generalitat (Generalitat) conducts the standard water quality tests and determines that the water is safe for bathing and poses no risk.
