The Local Government Board has given the contract for the NES Code, which is being implemented by the Department of Children, Family, and the Elderly, to provide seniors with help and companionship in combating undesired loneliness.
According to the area’s councillor, Aurora Rodil, this service is awarded for 119,000 euros each year for two years, with the option of extending it for another two. The goal is to provide companionship, emotional and social assistance to adults over the age of 70 who are registered with the municipality of Elche and are experiencing undesired loneliness but do not have major cognitive impairment.
“We are quite thrilled about this project since there are folks in Elche who are alone and do not have appropriate help. This service will make a significant difference in the quality of life for our seniors,” Rodil added.
This service includes social interaction-promoting activities, as well as assistance inside and outside the home, and through modern technology. As a result, each person will have a personalised schedule based on their condition, allowing activities outside the home, such as journeys in their neighbourhood, to enhance social integration and create social bonds. In this situation, the service comprises adapted vehicles and stairlifts to ensure that no one is excluded from the events due to architectural limitations.
In addition, there will be in-home interventions such as scheduled visits, telephone assistance, video chats, and the use of technology devices with screens and voice assistants to keep users connected and supported even when they are unable to leave their homes.
Distinctions and other contracts
At Thursday’s meeting, it was also authorised to award diplomas for excellent service to 27 Elche Local Police Force members for various police interventions. At the same time, it was decided to give the Silver Medal for Police Merit to 35 officers, officers, and inspectors for their professional careers and services rendered, which sometimes went beyond the scope of their duties, thereby offering institutional recognition for these efforts.
These prizes will be handed on September 28th during a ceremony honouring Elche Local Police’s patron saint on Paseo de la Estación.
Similarly, a contract has been issued to organise, promote, and carry out the “Fireta del Camp d’Elx” fair. It will take place on Paseo de la Estación from October 9 to 12. The goal is to enhance the local agriculture sector by providing opportunities to promote and sample local food. The event will feature lessons on white palm, esparto grass braiding, traditional cookery, and wine tasting, as well as children’s activities and a traditional pomegranate and date contest.
Five companies took part in the bidding procedure for two lots. The organisation and communications project was granted to businessman Gustavo Baena for €26,500 per year, with upgrades such as farm machinery demonstrations and service hours from 11:00 a.m. to closing time. Restaurants within 15 km or fewer will also offer catering services.
Inpares Levante SL has been awarded production lot 2 for 25,708 euros per year, which includes additional 24-hour security and surveillance workers during the Fireta celebrations, the installation of a portable bathroom booth module, and additional cleaning during lunchtime.
