A van was entirely burnt to the ground on Calle Pescara , near the Calle Pla roundabout, after bursting into flames. Despite the flames engulfing the vehicle at an unusually rapid rate, the occupants (who were company employees) were able to escape on their own, and no one was wounded, according to local police sources.
The fire started shortly before 9:00 a.m. today Monday, September 15th, however the cause of the blaze has yet to be determined. The blaze sparked widespread panic in the municipality. A massive column of black smoke could be seen rising in the sky above Javea.
The incident provoked a considerable mobilisation of resources: firefighters were entrusted with extinguishing the vehicle’s flames, while local police were responsible for traffic control.
