Crevillent Local Police responded shortly after receiving a 112 call reporting a motorbike collision. Officers arrived at the site and discovered a man lying on the ground with a terrible, open wound on his left leg, exposing the shattered bone.
Given the severity of the injury and the need to avoid more blood loss, the police applied a tourniquet around the top part of the knee until a SAMU unit arrived and took over stabilising the bleeding.
Fortunately, Crevillent Local Police officers receive continuing first aid training and have the necessary tools to respond to such crises. This training was critical in saving the motorcyclist’s life and highlights the value of law enforcement training in emergency medical procedures.
