This year, more than 90 towns in the province will benefit from the Alicante Provincial Council’s grant program, which will contribute €266,000 to help develop initiatives, programs, and activities geared at international citizens.
According to Juan de Dios Navarro, the representative for foreign residents, “In recent years, the demand for this type of project has increased, especially considering that more than 21 percent of the province’s population are international citizens.”
Navarro went on to say that it is “important” for this group to understand both the language and “the legal, judicial, and labour issues that concern them to facilitate their integration.”
According to a Provincial Council statement, actions and proposals that can be implemented through this grant package include Spanish language courses, registration campaigns, community events aimed at facilitating integration, job promotion and awareness workshops, assistance and translation, socio-legal services, and cultural activities.
