The La Nucía Town Council got a €5,000 funding from the Alicante Provincial Council to support the 2025 Stray Cat Sterilisation Campaign. This campaign’s purpose is to use the CER (catch, sterilise, and return) approach to manage the municipality’s feline colonies.
The La Nucía City Council’s Department of Animal Protection organised the 2025 Stray Cat Sterilisation Campaign, which received a €5,000 grant from the Alicante Provincial Council’s Environment Department under the Subsidy for the Control of Ownerless Cat Colonies in Municipalities of the Province of Alicante 2025, published in the BOP (Official Gazette of the Province) number 149 on August 7th, 2025.
La Nucía City Council allotted €20,000 for this effort in 2025, and 246 cats have been sterilised thus far.
