Elche will celebrate the second edition of White Night tomorrow, Saturday, September 27th, an initiative supported by the Department of Culture and Tourism that will provide free activities and visits to museums and historic places in the municipality, with special hours from 6:00 p.m. to midnight.
Irene Ruiz, a municipal councillor, stated that in the previous year, over 15,000 individuals participated in this project, which “exceeded all” expectations. “With these numbers, we wanted to repeat it this year with a second edition because we know that culture, museums, and everything our municipality offers are interesting and a major tourist attraction,” said.
The program comprises guided tours, dramatisations, workshops, concerts, films, and exhibitions geared at a broad audience. Over 20 venues participate, including MAHE, MUPE, the Elche Festival Mystery Museum, the Palmeral Museum, MACE, the Puçol School Museum, the Hort de Pontos Museum, MUVAPE, the Nativity Scene Museum, the Vaïllo Tower, the Poor Clares, the Arab Baths, Escorxador, the Mediaeval Market, the Third Order, the Congress Centre, the Basilica of Santa MarÃa, the Alcudia Museum, and the Garden of Concord Air Raid Shelter. The Royal Order of Lady, according to a statement from the Elche City Council.
Ruiz also declared that the city will participate “for another year” in International Tourism Day, with activities scheduled for September 26th-28th, including guided tours of El Palmeral and the Historic Centre.
