The 66-year-old granny who was strangled with a vacuum cleaner cable on September 17th was Irish and allegedly invited her assailant to her Benidorm house.
Initially, the National Police stated that the woman was from the United Kingdom, but she was originally from the Irish city of Cork.
The victim was identified as Catherine Peckham, also known as Cat by her family and friends.
The deceased woman allegedly asked her alleged murderer, a 63-year-old British woman, to spend a few weeks at her residence in Rincón de Loix, Benidorm.
Following an argument between the two, the suspect grabbed the vacuum cleaner cord, wrapped it around her friend’s neck, and killed her. A third woman who was with them contacted the authorities.
Police seal the door to the residence where the incident occurred.
According to police, the woman died as a result of mechanical asphyxiation. The reason for the disagreement that led to her death is currently unknown.
The body was discovered at 3:00 a.m. on Thursday Sprwmber 18th, some hours after the strangulation. Benidorm’s Investigative Court No. 2 ordered the alleged culprit to be imprisoned. The body was moved to the Alicante Institute of Forensic Medicine.
