The assistant coach of a basketball club faces 61 years in prison after coaching a youth women’s team and “hugged, kissed, and groped” the players.
Tomorrow, Thursday, October 2nd, the coach of the Baix Vinalopó team will be tried on 19 counts of sexual assault.
The Prosecutor’s Office accuses him of subjecting certain players, both adults and juveniles, to various activities in an effort to satisfy his carnal cravings and sexual pretensions.
Thus, the Public Prosecutor’s Office claims that during training, the man kissed, hugged, and touched the victims, placing his hands on their waists, hips, thighs, or buttocks, causing them pain and suffering.
The prosecution claims that the defendant had private discussions with the girls on social media, suggesting they be alone with them or sending them photographs of a bare breast, as well as asking them to send him photos of their private parts.
Also tomorrow, a man accused of having sexual relations with a juvenile, 14 years old at the time of the incidents, whom he met because she was a friend of his niece, will also face trial.
The Prosecutor’s Office alleges in its indictment that the man and the girl had a romantic relationship in June and July 2023.
They reconnected via WhatsApp in October and scheduled many encounters during which they had sexual relations, despite the fact that, according to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the defendant was aware of the minor’s age.
The Prosecutor’s Office is initially seeking 11 years in jail for the ongoing offence of sexual assault on a juvenile.
