The Guardia Civil rescued a 36-year-old woman after she became trapped in a fire that broke out in a family home in Altea.
The woman was transported to Villajoyosa Hospital in good health, while two of her relatives who attempted to assist her before the authorities arrived were treated for moderate symptoms of smoke inhalation.
The incident began early on September 23rd, when an Altea Guardia Civil patrol reacted to a report of a fire at the property.
Upon arriving and in collaboration with a local police unit, they discovered that the woman was confined on the bottom level of the house, behind a barred window, with a huge amount of smoke within.
Given the gravity of the situation, and before firefighters arrived, officers utilised hand weapons like a sledgehammer and a crowbar to smash open the gate and clear the way.
This allowed them to get the woman outdoors while keeping her safe.
