A woman who was widowed and failed to report her husband’s death to Social Security so that she could continue to receive his whole disability income for seven years is facing a four-year prison sentence, according to the prosecution.
The wife is charged with a crime against Social Security for failing to disclose the situation and keeping his pension for almost seven years following the man’s death in Benidorm in January 2009, according to the Valencian High Court of Justice (TSJCV).
The high court has stated that the trial for these events has been set for Thursday, January 15th, starting at 10 a.m. in the Third Section of the Provincial Court of Alicante. The prosecution contends that the defendant failed to disclose this information despite knowing she had an obligation to do so and continued to collect the pension, which totalled 63,900 euros.
