National Police have arrested three people in Alicante—two men and a woman, all between the ages of 39 and 41—who are accused of robbing a bather on the popular Postiguet beach.
The police found and detained the suspects not long after the theft in a central part of the city famed for its thrift stores.
The victim was swimming in the sea when the event happened. Two men and a woman who were sitting right behind her on a towel are said to have taken the chance to steal her rucksack, which had her things in it.
Two witnesses told the victim about the robbers’ physical traits when she got out of the water. The woman called a National Police patrol car right away, and the other crew members got the message.
Within minutes, the quick deployment of patrols paid dividends. The three suspects were found by police on a main street where secondhand stores and pick-up sites meet.
The police found the keys to the victim’s car when they stopped them. One of the detainees had allegedly thrown them into a nearby public rubish bin, which was a vital piece of evidence in the case.
After the police investigation, the three people who were arrested were taken to the Alicante investigative court.
