According to a statement from the city of Cartagena, members of the Fire and Rescue Service (SEIS) evacuated the people in numerous cars that were involved in a multi-vehicle accident on the Canteras to La Azohía road on Tuesday, October 7th.
The crash happened around 1:00 p.m. on the RM-E22 (Cartagena-Mazarrón) and involved two cars crashing head-on, with a third car on the side. The people injured were in both cars that crashed into each other.
The Guardia Civil and medical staff helped in the emergency response to this event. Firefighters took two people out of the cars that had been in a head-on accident and at their request, took them to a medical centre later. One of them was taken out through rear, and the other was taken out by the driver’s door.
To keep the route safe, firefighters also removed the wreckage of cars from the road.
