2.3 magnitude earthquake off Santa Pola

At 5:11 p.m. on Saturday, October 11th, the National Geographic Institute detected a magnitude 2.3 earthquake with its epicentre southwest of Santa Pola and a depth of 4 kilometres. Some residents in coastal districts of Elche, such as La Marina and Balsares, felt the tremor, despite its low intensity.

This latest seismic event occurs just a few weeks after the one also recorded off the coast of Santa Pola, which had a similar magnitude and was felt in the municipality of Elche. Both are part of the mild seismic activity that typically occurs in this area of ​​the Alicante coast, with no material damage.
