The National Police have arrested a 32-year-old man who works at a pharmacy in Elche for allegedly committing a crime against public health. The investigation started when the proprietor of the pharmacy noticed a problem with the paperwork for psychotropic drugs that were being sold there and filed a complaint.
From the start, it seemed fishy
The pharmacy owner filed a complaint, which led to the investigation. He said that when he sent in the annual report of narcotics and psychotropic drugs to the Official College of Pharmacists of Alicante, he noticed a difference between the drugs that were taken off the market and the prescriptions that were filled.
The person who complained said that the things that were stolen were psychoactive medications, and he strongly thought that the person who did it worked at the business.
Modus operandi
It was discovered that the employee had used his personal code to make prescription withdrawals without valid prescriptions to back them up. He sometimes gave out the products without clients being there, then cancelled the sale. Other times, he gave out medication to people with prescriptions without actually giving them the product when they paid. They found out that some of the medicine they had been given was gone when they got home.
The person who was arrested, who had no previous police record and was fired, is being looked into for allegedly breaking the law on public health. The Elche Duty Investigative Court was told about the probe.
