A 20-year-old man died early on Tuesday morning, October 14th, after being run over by a TRAM d’Alacant train in the Alicante municipality of El Campello, according to municipal sources.
The same sources explained that the incident occurred just after 5:00 a.m., near the Rafael Altamira school, and that the collision occurred with the first convoy leaving the depot heading for Alicante.
Meanwhile, sources from the Valencian Regional Government Railways (FGV) have confirmed the collision and that train and tram services have not been able to resume normal service until the coroner arrives at the scene.
In fact, the TRAM d’Alacant notified early in the morning, through its official X account, the suspension of traffic between El Campello and Luceros due to a collision, although it was restored around 7:00 a.m.
At this time, further details of what may have happened are unknown, and municipal sources have expressed their “absolute dismay” at this incident, the investigation of which has been taken over by the Guardia Civil, they explained.
