In Benidorm, the National Police arrested a man for fraud and identity theft after he opened a bank letter that had a card in the name of a neighbour. The suspect has been taken to court.
A few weeks ago, a building in Rincón de Loix had an incident that was caused by a bank letter that the building’s concierge accidentally put in the detainee’s mailbox. He opened the letter and called the bank to ask for a PIN.
Two five hundred euros withdrawal attempts
After that, he tried to take out 500 euros twice. The bank then got in touch with the victim to let him know that the PIN had been entered wrong.
The victim, a woman from Lithuania, then realised that she hadn’t gotten the card she had asked for from the bank. She then told the National Police Station about the occurrence since she thought her card might have been used fraudulently.
Record of the police
The police questioned the neighbour and found the card inside a ripped envelope, which led to his imprisonment.
The person is 56 years old, Spanish, and has a criminal past. The Benidorm Duty Court has brought him to court. He is accused of fraud, stealing, and finding out secrets.
