The Guardia Civil has arrested a 29-year-old man in Pilar de la Horadada for allegedly robbing three people in less than 48 hours. Some of the stolen items have been found and given back to their owners as a result of the operation.
The investigation started in the middle of October when a resident said that his car had been stolen the night before. Hours later, another resident said that someone had broken into his car and stolen tools, personal papers, and valuables from his home. The estimated damage was €30,000.
Inspection: Officers from the Guardia Civil in Pilar de la Horadada looked into the house and cars and found “useful clues” to help with the investigation. Officers at the Torre de la Horadada station were also able to find a car that matched the one that was stolen on October 13th by looking at evidence found near the crime site.
Shed for tools
A few hours later, they found the car. The investigations and comparisons of evidence from both places led to the full identification of the accused culprit, who was a person with no permanent address who was moving between empty or abandoned properties in the neighbourhood.
With the help of the Pilar de la Horadada Local Police, the suspect was found on October 15th in a tool shed on a remote road, where he was arrested.
The stolen car and a high-end watch worth several thousand euros were found during the search of the property. These items were then given back to their owners.
The 29-year-old man who was arrested has a long history of criminal activity and is facing charges of property offences such as burglary, theft from a vehicle, and theft of a vehicle’s use. He was brought before the Investigating Court No. 3 of Orihuela.
Complaint
The Guardia Civil Command’s press office “reminds us of the importance of filing a report as soon as we become aware of the criminal acts, as quickly as possible after they occur, since immediate communication facilitates the recovery of stolen items and improves the effectiveness of the police response.”
