Three males, aged 30 to 51, have been arrested by the National Police in Gandia and a town in the Alicante province of Marina Alta. They are accused of trafficking people for sexual exploitation and sexual abuse. They are said to have pushed a woman into prostitution in a number of apartments in the town for almost two months.
The victim was recruited at Talavera de la Reina (Toledo) because she was in a bad financial situation. A man there purportedly enticed her to work in the restaurant industry. Later, she was driven to a flat in Gandia, where a group of guys told her she would have to work as a prostitute and made her give them all the money she had collected.
Made to be a prostitute with no set hours or time off
The woman had to work as a prostitute in many residences in the Valencian town. She didn’t have a defined timetable or breaks, and she didn’t get much food. She had to have sex with her clients whenever they wanted it, and when she said no, her abusers would beat her up, including sexually. They even set her chest on fire with a cigarette once.
The Unit Against Immigration and Document Forgery Networks (UCRIF) in Valencia, working with the Gandia Local Police Station, has finally arrested three of the people who are accused of being involved in the crimes of human trafficking for sexual exploitation and sexual assault. The people who were arrested are currently in court. Three males, ages 30 to 51, have been arrested by the National Police in Gandia and a town in the Alicante district of Marina Alta.
