José Ramón Llorca is in charge of the Department of Citizen Security, which will spend about €200,000 to buy uniforms and gear for the Cartagena Local Police. In particular, the City Council wants a company or companies to provide the police with the goods they need within six months, or until the initial tender budget runs out.
Without taxes, the contract value is €182,671.90. The Local Police have numerous groups that need different uniforms, so this supply contract has been split into lots based on the different types of work that need to be done. This has led to the creation of six different lots: dress uniform, service uniform, GOESC section uniform, traffic section uniform, footwear, and saddlery.
Companies that want to win the contract can submit their offers until November 12th. The City Council will then drop the price they are willing to pay. The estimated value of lot one is €43,636, including taxes; lot two is €62,690; lot three is €34,300; lot four is €50,990; lot five is €18,900; and lot six is €10,517.
Clothes and saddles will come with a three-year warranty at the very least.
There are four commissioner dress suits, sixty agent dress suits, and twenty sub-inspector peaked caps in the dress uniform set. The number of each piece varies depending on the police officer’s level. Lot two has duty gear such bulletproof vest coverings, shoulder boards, and military trousers.
For the GOESC, lot three includes long- and short-sleeved shirts, short jackets and other clothes. For the Traffic division, short- and long-sleeved polo shirts and motorcycle trousers will be bought.
They will buy shoes for the dress uniform and tactical service boots, as well as holsters for the weapon and torch that come with the harness.
The City Council’s document also stresses that the standard uniform will be made with fabrics and materials that protect officers from weather conditions like rain, extreme cold, heat, or other situations that could damage the clothing due to use, such as chafing, tearing, abrasions, punctures, etc., without sacrificing comfort or limiting the officers’ freedom of movement.
They also stress that the fabric should be able to wick away sweat, absorb it quickly, dry quickly, and have antibacterial properties to keep it from smelling nasty while used.
