The City Council of Villajoyosa has finished building two new urban sections of bike lane, which will let the current network of routes reach Cala. This was announced by the City Council yesterday, Thursday, October 30th.
The first completed section extends from the Costera Pastor area to the port roundabout. The second part goes from the intersection of the future roundabout that leads to Les Talaies and the roundabout where the regional funeral home is located.
Construcciones Porticada SL won the project with a budget of €314,487.88 (including VAT). IVACE (Valencian Institute of Business Competitiveness) has given the project a grant that covers 60% of the total cost.
These two additional stretches of bike lanes make a continuous path and finish our bike network from the town centre to the cove and the industrial sector. The city planning councillor, Pedro Ramis , indicated that the section of the new bike lane “closest to La Cala is approximately 500 metres long and is located on the existing shoulder.” The final section of Calle Colón up to the port roundabout is also approximately 500 metres long.
Marcos Zaragoza noted that “the goal is to optimize the sustainable mobility of the municipality and, above all, to improve the road safety of cyclists by separating them from road traffic.”
