Three men between the ages of 28 and 40 have been arrested by the National Police and the Alicante Local Police for a crime against industrial property. They were also taking down two buildings that were allegedly being used to distribute fake goods and clothing.
The inquiry started when the Local Police told the National Police about two houses where fake items were supposedly being sold. A complaint from one of the biggest affected brands and the arrests made during the summer backed up the information given.
The National Police’s Judicial Police in Alicante’s Specialised Crime Group looked into the case. It was noted during the trial that people came into the houses empty-handed and left with big bags full of clothes.
Later, with the help of the Alicante Local Police, they found many people who were supposedly carrying fake clothes and stylish accessories. In just a few hours, police took around 1,000 fake clothes.
In addition, extra investigations were done that led to the discovery of the alleged criminals and the confirmation that the clothes were meant for street vendors in the port region of Alicante.
With the help of the public safety units from both forces, two houses were searched in the northern part of the city, where a lot of clothes, shoes and professional football team jerseys were taken. The National Police also uncovered twelve empty boxes with labels on them. They said that these boxes “indicated they had contained counterfeit goods.”
The people who were arrested are being looked into for offences against industrial property. The duty magistrate in Alicante has been given the case and will continue with it.
