Last week, a severe event happened at a school in Dénia when an 11-year-old pupil was choked unconscious during playtime. This was supposedly part of a viral challenge going around on the social media site TikTok. The event took place on October 30th.
Sources said that the youngster was at the playground with his classmates during lunch when one of them put him in a rear-naked chokehold from behind, which knocked him out. The boy’s mother said that he “might not have survived,” which shows how serious the situation was.
After the incident, the boy’s chin was broken, his lip was stitched up, and he had a wound that would need surgery. He hasn’t been to school in a week and is nervous about his sixth-grade tests.
The family said that emergency services were not called after the event. Instead, the mother brought the youngster to the hospital after arriving at the centre and finding him laying on the floor. The mother also said, “The kids asked a lunchroom supervisor for help, but that supervisor didn’t help at all; in fact, he ignored the kids.”
The family has said that they will submit a complaint “to find out what happened and who is responsible for the educational centre’s alleged lack of action.”
From an educational point of view, this instance shows how viral challenges among kids are becoming more common and can lead to severe circumstances.
