A beautiful green space will soon be a landmark in Torrevieja. The City Council wants to build a big, long-lasting park in Sector 25 that will be more than 70,000 square metres. It will be a place for people to meet and a centre for environmental integration. The business Actúa will conduct the work on the project, which calls for a long, green corridor that would connect themed spaces for sports, recreation, and communal life.
There will be a road safety park for kids, a big zip line, and play areas for kids with games that everyone can play. There will also be outdoor sports courts, like a 3×3 basketball court and a little futsal field. There will also be a picnic area and an agility course for dogs in the park. One of the distinctive features is the installation of the city’s first self-cleaning restrooms in a public park. These are the most advanced of their kind.
Torrevieja already has a large green area in Sector 25 which the locals call “Dog Poo Alley.” It stretches the length of the N-332 between the new TM Headquarters and the Quiron Hospital and parallel with Av. Asociación Victimas del Terrorismo. For many years, litter, vandalism, dog excrement, and lampposts without bulbs or covers have plagued the park, leaving it unkempt.

Planning cities in a way that is good for the environment
The park’s design puts efficiency and sustainability first. To do this, the play areas will have furniture produced from recycled materials, LED lights, and natural, permeable surface like gravel, sand, compacted earth, or rubber. This will help manage water better and have less of an effect on the environment. Also, there will be drinking fountains all across the park, especially near the play areas for kids, to make it more comfortable for everyone.
One of the most important parts of the project is restoring the ecosystem in the area around it. The landscaping design calls for the planting of 95 palm trees, more than 23,000 plants, and about 700 trees. The Mediterranean varieties that were chosen include olive trees, holm oaks, carob trees, mastic trees, and cypresses, as well as Aleppo pines, mulberry trees, plane trees, and aromatic species that will improve local biodiversity and help make the climate more comfortable by providing shade.
The park’s maintenance system will include smart irrigation and remote management, which will make the best use of water and energy, in line with the ideas of sustainability and responsible use of public resources.
A place for living in the community and outside
The City Council wants the future Sector 25 park to be a welcoming and healthy place where people of all ages may be active, walk, play with kids, and engage with each other. Not only will it add more green space to the city, but it will also make the area around it better and more appealing to tourists.
The city wants to make more and more open public places, and this park is part of that plan. It will make living better and the city look better. The goal of its growth is also to create additional places for people to engage and make the city more sustainable, accessible, and focused on the health of its residents.
