The Orihuela Local Police have started using their entirely new shooting range. The project cost €18,018.08 (including VAT). Mónica Pastor led the Department of Citizen Security in charge of the project. Its goal was to make sure that the facilities were up to date, safe, and suitable for current training demands.
Training and safety for police all the time
Councilwoman Mónica Pastor said, “These shooting exercises are taking place in a modern, safe facility that shows how professional our staff is.” “Having the right places for our officers to train and grow is the first step in keeping them safe.”
He also said that “firearms training is not just about knowing how to shoot, but about staying calm, acting confidently, and making quick decisions when it matters most.” Getting ready like this is the key to being able to handle any scenario.
Complete technical and structural renovation
The main improvements to the gallery include:
- Replacement of bulletproof glass with high-strength technical materials.
- Installation of high-density rubber flooring , which improves impact cushioning and soundproofing.
- Zone-adjustable lighting , adapted to current regulations.
- Repair of roofs, profiles and sliding rails.
- Replacement of protective curtains and reinforcement of the structural wall of the enclosure.
A training room that is also utilised by other cities
The Local Police’s continuous training program includes mandatory and regular firearms instruction. Officers from other towns in the area also use this range now that it has been improved. They come to Orihuela to improve their skills.
