After spending over a month in jail, a court has let three young men go free on a temporary basis. They were arrested for allegedly attacking an 18-year-old male outside a nightclub in the Albufereta region of Alicante.
After hearing from witnesses, the decision was made, and a restraining order has been put in place to protect the victim. There is also a medical report on the young man’s injuries that is still to come.
The three people between the ages of 18 and 20 were detained and put in jail on October 16th. A fourth minor was taken to the Juvenile Courts, put on supervised release, and probed for assault.
National Police officials took these four people into custody because they were thought to be the ones who attacked someone. The man and his friends were on their way home from a nightclub when they saw a female sitting on the side of the road crying. He and his friends were worried and asked her what was wrong.
At that point, the young woman’s partner yelled at them for talking to her and urged them to leave her alone as he walked up to them in a threatening way. The police said in a statement released in October that this led to a fight that involved acquaintances of the alleged attacker.
One of the attackers is said to have hit one of the victim’s pals in the face very severely. After being attacked, the friend phoned the police. At the same moment, one of the attackers reportedly punched the 18-year-old in the face five times, while another shoved him, making him fall backward and smash his head on the ground, which knocked him out. As the police arrived, the people who were supposed to be attacking ran away.
Six days in I.C.U.
The National Police say that the victim had to be sent to the General Hospital of Alicante because of the head injuries he had from the strikes, which included a skull fracture. He spent six days in the ICU.
