Because of the misuse of bicycles and personal mobility vehicles, the El Campello Local Police are stepping up their patrols on the pedestrian strip of its coastal promenades these days.
Municipal sources say that these types of mobility are not allowed because these are public spaces meant for pedestrians. This is shown via traffic signs along the promenades.
Officers are also watching the beach from the air using a police drone to see if there are any dogs on the sand. Dogs are not allowed on the beach save in the two places that are set aside, marked, and reserved for them: the Punta del Riu and Barranc d’Aigües beaches.
Violations
In just four days, from Sunday November 16th to Wednesday November 19th , a dozen complaints have been made about this kind of violation, which can cost 100 euros.
The same sources say that these activities happen after multiple warnings and information efforts, as well as in response to complaints from citizens about both situations.
Riding bikes and scooters in places that are only for pedestrians and cars using pedestrian lanes as “roads” more and more often puts people in danger.
