The Alicante Provincial Fire Consortium sent the Alpha 01 aircraft and the Mountain Rescue Group (GER) to help with two mountain rescues in the province this Sunday. Both events hurt hikers who had serious problems when they were hiking.
Help in the Atzabares Castle (La Vall de Laguar)
At 12:16, the Consortium got a report about a 70-year-old man who had passed out numerous times and was sweating a lot while ascending Castell dels Atzabares, which is near Fontilles. The rescue squad gave the victim first aid on the spot and then took him to the medical services at the Dénia fire station. The operation ended at 13:46.
Rescue in the Senda dels Frares (Quatretondeta)
At 1:16 PM, emergency personnel were called to help a 41-year-old woman who fell hard while hiking on the Senda dels Frares route. She hurt her head and had a bleeding cut. After getting first aid, the victim was flown to the helipad at the Alcoy Regional Hospital. The operation ended around three o’clock.
In all cases, the Alpha 01 helicopter and the GER were utilised to make sure that the hikers who were hurt got the care they needed and were quickly evacuated.
