The Guardia Civil and the Almorad Local Police have arrested three men, ages 20, 28, and 44. They are accused of illegally holding two men against their will and assaulting them. The men were tied up and taken to an open field in the municipality as punishment for allegedly robbing a business owned by the arrested men. A fourth person, whose full name is known, was able to get away just before the police got there, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
The incidents happened late in the afternoon of October 31st, when the criminals caught the two victims at different places in the town. They tied them up, put them in a car, and drove them to a remote spot where they were attacked and threatened.
Several neighbours witnessed the abduction of the men and immediately alerted the police. Because of this cooperation, the Guardia Civil and the Almoradí Local Police were able to start an urgent operation together.
Car in a field
Officers found the car parked in an open field a few minutes later while scanning the area and heard the victims’ calls for aid. The patrol quickly got to the spot, where they caught the criminals in the act and arrested them. Paramedics took care of the patients, who had a lot of injuries.
Early signs point to the illegal detention and attacks being revenge for a robbery that happened days before at the workplace of one of the people who was arrested.
The three guys, who are 20, 28, and 44 years old, were arrested and charged with illegal detention, injuries, and making serious threats with a knife and other dangerous objects. They were then taken to the Court of Instruction number 2 of Orihuela, on duty.
The Guardia Civil wants everyone to know that violence and retaliation will not solve any problems. These actions are serious crimes that can put lives at risk. You should call the police right away if you think a crime has been committed or if you have any reason to believe it has.
