The Guardia Civil has arrested an international fugitive in Sant Joan d’Alacant. Montenegro wants him for major offences relating to organised crime, murder, and arms trafficking, among other things.
The Guardia Civil said in a statement that the individual, who is 41 years old, was one of the most wanted fugitives in his country and there was an international arrest warrant (OID) for his extradition.
On November 16th, during a citizen security check in the town of Alicante, the inmate was found.
During the operation, the agents found out who was driving a rental car and then checked his identification in the databases. They found that the Montenegrin authorities had issued an international arrest warrant for him.
The agents established the legitimacy of the international order through Interpol after doing the necessary checks and then detained him.
The Central Court of Instruction No. 2 of the National Court, which is in charge of the extradition process, now possesses the inmate.
The international warrant says that the person who was arrested was involved in murder, trafficking weapons and explosives, falsification of documents, and abuse of power.
The Guardia Civil stresses the importance of citizen security services that prevent crime, which help find and bring to justice very dangerous criminals, as well as how well international police cooperation works.
