They are one of the most popular and best-selling toys in the world, and people all over the world want them. Standing at just 7.5 centimetres tall, Playmobil figures continue to astound anybody who travels into their fascinating and recognisable realm. If you let your imagination run wild, you could come up with pirate ships, spaceships, Wild West forts, farms, and sceneries from the Middle Ages.
People of all ages have played with or held one of these smiling, cute, articulated figures with spiky fringe since they were first made a little over fifty years ago. And for now, there are no limits to how popular they are.
Playmobil World
Now, for all the fans and others who are interested in this famous toy, Petrer Castle is celebrating its reopening following renovations with an exhibition that is free for people of all ages until January 4th.
Under the name “Playmovies,” we are given a fun idea that lets visitors step into the most famous scenes from some of the most popular movies and TV shows through eight large-format dioramas made with Playmobil figures.
The exhibition also has a special ninth diorama that shows “La Rendició,” which is one of the main events of the Petrer Mid-Year Festival that takes place every November in our city.
‘Playmovies’ will be open days 11:00 – 14:00 till January 4th
Famous films

There are more than 3,000 items in the exhibit, and it recreates legendary blockbusters from films and TV shows in miniature with great care. Visitors can see replicas of famous moments from films and TV shows such ‘Asterix and Obelix’, ‘Star Wars: Episode IV’, ‘Game of Thrones’, ‘300’, ‘Mary Poppins’, ‘Back to the Future’, ‘Saving Private Ryan’
One thing that makes this amazing visual tour stand out is that many of the pieces are one-of-a-kind and not for sale. They were made using 3D printing, which gives the exhibition a unique touch.
There are more than 3,000 pieces in the show.
Tour for movie fans
Hundreds of famous people, structures, and automobiles go into making each exhibit. There are famous characters like Asterix and Obelix, who are always fighting the Roman legions; Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Yoda, and the evil Darth Vader; Mary Poppins and her best friend Bert; Marty McFly and his partner, Doctor Emmett Brown, with the famous DeLorean; and the four Ghostbusters catching the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man in New York City.
Petrer is also participating, contributing a very personal touch to the exhibition with the diorama of ‘La Rendició’ (The Surrender), created exclusively for the show after an exhaustive photogrammetric (a technique for obtaining 3D figures from photographs) and photographic analysis used to reproduce the local festival. In this way, the Castle-Fortress has been properly rebuilt together with some seventy persons in the clothes, helmets, and other typical characteristics of this historical recreation.
In 1974, Playmobil was made in Germany.
A new toy Playmobil initially launched in Germany in 1974, though without much initial success. Kids loved them right away because they were so easy to use. They could use their imaginations to make up their own stories. Two years later, they travelled to Spain with permission from the company Famosa. This is how these plastic figures got the name Famobil in our nation.
Since they first came out over 50 years ago, millions of them have been sold over the world, and they have become a passion for both kids and adults. They are becoming a real mainstream phenomenon and a sought-after item for fans and collectors. There are also groups that put on events and shows on Playmobil in this universe.
Famous setting
This interesting display, which is full of creativity, nostalgia, and emotion for the whole family, is a great idea. It may be seen in a unique environment like the Castle.
The best thing about the proposal is that it is meant to appeal to both kids and adults. Kids will enjoy the characters and situations that are recreated, and adults will recognise scenes from movies, TV shows, and comics, or they will be able to relive their childhood memories with dolls that seem timeless and continue to spark passion in new generations.
