The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has said that it would do conservation and maintenance work on the pedestrian walkways across the N-332 road between Torrevieja and Pilar de la Horadada in the next few days. This will affect the four that are in Orihuela Costa.
The following pedestrian pathways will be closed for pavement rehabilitation work:
Punta Prima from Monday, the 15th, to Friday, the 19th December.
La Zenia from Monday, the 22nd, to Wednesday, the 24th December.
La Regia from Monday, the 29th, to Wednesday, the 31st December.
Campoamor will be closed from Wednesday, January 7th, until Friday, January 16th 2026.
In all circumstances, the shutdown is for both days.
These roads and bridges are necessary to link homes near the seaside with stores and services on the opposite side of the national highway. Footbridges have been needed on the Orihuela coast for a long time since they are the only safe route to cross a busy dual highway. This is especially true since this section is also utilised to escape the AP-7 toll.

Four walkways that were erected after years of requests and are now thought to be too few for the municipality’s 16 kilometres of coastline.
The City Council asked for urgent repairs in May because these buildings are starting to fall apart. As part of a full conservation strategy, they suggested fixing the building’s structure, adding better lighting, and painting it again. The Mayor of Orihuela, Pepe Vegara; the Councillor for Urban Planning, Matías Ruiz; and the Councillor for Infrastructure, Víctor Valverde, met with the head of the State Highways Department, Jesús Redondo, to talk about some of the municipality’s top projects that would improve the road network and make traffic safer.
