The Guardia Civil and the Local Police of Callosa d’en Sarrià (Alicante) worked together to arrest six people, aged 22 to 63, who are believed to be connected to a robbery with force that took place inside a residence in a rural region of this municipality.
The Guardia Civil said in a statement that a short firearm was also taken from the belongings of people who were arrested during the operation.
In October, a number of people called the police to report that they had seen people they didn’t know hanging around a residence and then going inside.
When the police got there, they saw that the property had “evident” signs of having been broken into. Food, personal items, and other things belonging to the residents were all over the inside.
Four persons were in the residence, and the armed institute said they wouldn’t leave and were “non-cooperative” with the agents. The agents then took steps to make sure the intervention was safe and under control.
The Guardia Civil said that during the search, they found a little gun among the things of the people they think are responsible. They are now looking into where it came from.
Because of this, the Guardia Civil arrested four people who they think were involved in a burglary. The police told the accused about their rights and took them to police headquarters for more questioning.
The Guardia Civil says that two more people were arrested in Callosa d’en Sarrià hours later as part of the same operation after it was verified that they were involved in the events. Four cars that were supposedly stolen from within the house were found during this stage.
At the same time, there is a separate inquiry into the seized weapon because there are “indications” that one of the detainees may have committed a crime of illegal possession of weapons.
Released on conditional bail
The six inmates, who have a history of crimes against people and property, were taken to the duty judge of the La Vila Joiosa court district. The judge ordered their release with the condition that they follow certain safety measures while the investigations continue.
