The Department of Health and Animal Welfare of the Altea Town Council has organised a training day for managers of feline colonies in the municipality, an activity included in the Altea Ethical Management Plan for Feline Colonies (PGECA). The training will be tomorrow, Wednesday, December 17th, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Social Centre cafeteria (c/ Marina Baixa, 2).
Anna Lanuza, the councillor in charge of the area, says that “attendance is mandatory, as it is an essential requirement for the annual renewal of accreditation as an authorised manager of feline colonies in Altea.” The agency reminds everyone that, “whether attending or absent for a justified reason (travel, work, illness, or other verifiable circumstances), it is necessary to notify the Health and Animal Welfare Department beforehand,” Lanuza affirms.
The workshop will be provided in Spanish and English and will have the assistance of the Altea Animal Collection Service and the Happy Cats Association of Altea.
The day begins at 10:00 with “Theory and Results 2025”, with the collaboration of the Altea Animal Collection Service; followed by a discussion among the attendees; finally, at 11:30, practical situations will be presented, with the collaboration of the Happy Cats Association of Altea, and questions and answers.
Ana Cabrera, the health technician in charge of giving the talk, emphasised the importance of this event: “It is very important to raise awareness not only of the animal welfare law, but also what the management of feline colonies entails, so that all actions taken are truly beneficial and serve the entire community.” The Department of Health and Animal Welfare thanked everyone who helps with the ethical management of the municipality’s cat colonies for their “involvement and commitment.” “Furthermore, this event is a great chance to meet, share experiences, needs, and ideas for how to make things better in the future,” Councillor Anna Lanuza said. The technician from the department and the Councillor for Animal Welfare both praised the several administrations and volunteers that work with the cat colonies for their help and hard work.
