A Guardia Civil officer who worked in the Torrevieja barracks in 2016 and 2017 is facing a five-year prison sentence for allegedly continuing to leak secrets and falsifying an official document.
The prosecution’s accusation says that the events happened between April 2016 and June 2017, when the defendant allegedly abused his access to different police databases because of his job. It is said that the officer took requests from other parties to check up on personal or vehicle registration information and then provided such information.
The prosecution says that on one occasion, the Guardia Civil member went even farther by changing a woman’s complaint that had been filed two months earlier. The prosecution says that he modified the official paperwork by moving the location of the claimed robbery and saying that it happened in a home that was occupied instead of one that wasn’t. The complainant’s father is said to have asked for this change to be made so that the victim may get insurance money.
The trial will take place at 9:30 a.m. at the Seventh Section of the Provincial Court of Alicante, which is located in Elche. The court will decide what criminal charges the accused may face.
