National Police have arrested a 66-year-old woman in Benidorm (Alicante) on suspicion of committing a crime of misappropriation.
According to the Superior Headquarters, National Police officers have arrested a 66-year-old woman in the municipality of Benidorm (Alicante) for allegedly stealing 29,000 euros from the bank account of a known neighbour, an elderly man, through withdrawals.
The investigation started after an old man complained that a neighbour he was friends with had stolen around 29,000 euros from him.
The woman said in her complaint that she was an authorised user on the victim’s bank account and had the keys to her card and access to internet banking to help her keep track of her money because she was getting older.
The carer for the sufferer found it
The victim’s carer learnt the facts when she took him to the bank to update his passbook. She saw that the victim had only a little more than 300 euros left in the account and had made a lot of money withdrawals that he didn’t know about.
The victim looked over his account transactions and saw that almost 29,000 euros were gone. He thought that her neighbour had taken the money without her permission, taking advantage of her confidence.
The police arrested the person they thought was responsible for the crime of misappropriation once they found her.
