The Orihuela City Council has started the bidding process for road resurfacing and pavement improvements on many routes on the Orihuela Costa, notably in Campoamor. The project’s total cost, including VAT, is €885,845.10.
Where the project will take place and how it will be paid for
The work will mostly be done on Calle Miguel de Cervantes and the streets next to it (Campoamor). The Departments of Infrastructure and Maintenance and Coastal Management are working together on this project.
The Alicante Provincial Council’s PLANIFICA 2024–2027 Plan is in charge of funding the project.
The Alicante Provincial Council gives 45% of the money.
The Orihuela City Council is in charge of the rest of the work and is in charge of carrying it out.
Information on the improvements to the infrastructure
The aim of the works is to correct deficiencies in accessibility, road safety, and pavement condition. The planned tasks include :
- Asphalt paving of the roads.
- Renovation and expansion of sidewalks with the construction of accessible ramps.
- Improvement of the drainage and rainwater collection system.
- Replacement of existing light fixtures with LED technology.
- Renewal of road signage and beautification of medians
Working together with the drinking water network
Also, a future tender for more than €300,000 has been announced to update the drinking water network on Miguel de Cervantes Avenue. The goal of processing both tenders close together is to make sure the work goes smoothly and that the pavement doesn’t have to be opened up again when the reconstruction is done.
The work is expected to take six months to complete, commencing from the signing of the re-establishment verification report.
