The municipal cleaning company UTE Elche has said that the special cleaning operation for the Christmas holidays picked up 190,000 kilos of rubbish on January 1st, a national holiday, and about 200,000 kilos on December 25th, Christmas Day, which is also a holiday.
On December 25th and January 1st, UTE Elche put together a special operation with about 80 workers, including collectors, tankers, mixed sweepers, pressure washers, and high-pressure and hot water washers. Their job was to clean up the streets after the important holidays of Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
During these Christmas holidays, the company has added more staff and mechanical and manual sweeping services to all the places where parties are held. There are morning, afternoon, and night shifts, and they pay special attention to areas where there are a lot of people, both in the town centre and in the outlying districts.
Also, the rear-loading containers for leftover trash in the historic centre have been strengthened for these days, and they are picked up every day.
This special cleaning operation started on December 22nd and will last until January 6th.
