Another tram crash happened in Dénia. At 2:50 p.m. on Friday, January 23rd. The tram was going towards the FGV station along the lines on Avenida Joan Fuster when it hit a car that was crossing the tracks at the roundabout with Diana Street. Witnesses said that the car ran a red light, not knowing that the tram was coming.
The impact left a hole in the lowest half of the train’s body that was easy to see. The woman was able to get out of the car on her own, but the ambulance crew had to take her to a medical centre. She didn’t seem to be hurt badly, though.
A van from the Dénia Local Police’s accident investigation section also came to the site. Other officers from the city’s security force were in charge of controlling traffic.
Since it opened, the tram has already hit other vehicles at this and other crossroads along the urban route in Dénia. It doesn’t always appear like road signs, traffic lights, and other auditory and visual indications are enough to stop these kinds of incidents. But none of them have had major effects. The tram moves slowly along this part of the route.
