On Thursday, January 22nd, the National Police arrested another 15-year-old in Alicante. He was wanted for attacking a 16-year-old lad on New Year’s Eve near a nightclub in Playa de San Juan. This arrest brings the total number of children between the ages of 14 and 16 who have been arrested for the attack on the 16-year-old to nine. The sufferer was kicked and assaulted, and one eye lost 84% of its vision.
Agents from the Alicante Judicial Police’s Juvenile Unit apprehended the last person involved in the investigation this Thursday. He was told to go to the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office on Friday after he was discharged. According to court sources, the Prosecutor’s Office has not asked for his imprisonment as a precautionary step, just like they did for the first eight inmates. Instead, they have asked that he stay away from the victim.
Arrests and investigations
This newspaper said yesterday that the National Police’s Juvenile Group made the first eight arrests on January 14th in Alicante. They did this after looking into the complaint made on January 2nd by the 16-year-old who was attacked.
The report sent to the National Police says that the event happened outside a nightclub in Playa de San Juan about 4:30 a.m. The victim says he was in the nightclub when a group of young people started to verbally attack one of his friends. The young man asked them what they were doing, and the group attacked him.
One of the attackers urged a doorman to take him outside and beat him up. The doorman then grabbed him by the neck and tossed him out of the building, taking away the wristband that let him into the New Year’s Eve celebration, according to the person who complained.
The young man says that once he got outside, he was kicked and pummelled, and that a bouncer didn’t do anything until he helped him up, at which point he was beaten again. The victim says that one of the bouncers is the father of one of the juveniles who was in the altercation.
