The president and manager of a nursing home in Aspe are both facing prison sentences of 13 and 8 years, respectively. The trial started yesterday, Monday January 26th, at the Provincial Court of Alicante.
The Prosecutor’s Office says they committed crimes of disloyal administration, misappropriation, and fraud by running the centre in a way that cost the government close to 2,150,000 euros between 2006 and 2011.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office says that both of them did not do enough to manage the nursing home’s finances and economy and spent a lot of money that they then added to their own assets, which made them bankrupt.
The prosecution also claims that the council president stole property from various elderly citizens, totalling more than 660,000 euros.
The prosecution is asking for penalties of 13 years in jail for the president and 8 years for the treasurer for these crimes.
