Three people, two men and one woman, aged 29, 39, and 43, have been arrested by the National Police in Benidorm on suspicion of narcotics trafficking. Two of those arrested were stopped while driving a vehicle carrying 105 grams of cocaine.
The investigation began when detectives got many allegations from neighbours about the actions of a couple who reportedly sold narcotics, particularly marijuana and cocaine. They apparently used both their home and the building’s shared areas for this purpose. According to the information acquired, there was a continual flow of people going to the property to buy drugs, as well as public drug usage, disrupting the tranquillity and normal daily life of the area’s residents and business owners.
Police deployment
To corroborate these charges, the investigators focused their initial efforts on locating the culprits and observing the movement of persons near the property. Once identified, different surveillance and monitoring activities were launched, confirming that the suspects, along with a third party, were selling drugs after contacting clients over various communication channels.
The narcotics and money were stored at their residence, and distribution was mostly done near Benidorm, a popular English tourist destination, using an electric scooter.
A police operation was started in response to evidence of a potential drug trafficking offence, which resulted in the arrest of two males. Both were apprehended in a vehicle following an alleged narcotics deal. During the initial search, officers discovered a package containing marijuana on one of them.
Canine Unit
The vehicle was then thoroughly inspected with the assistance of a dog from the National Police Canine Unit. The dog pointed officers to the dashboard area, where they discovered that the audio system was easily uninstalled. Inside the compartment, they discovered a small bag containing a rock-like substance, which turned out to be cocaine, weighing 105 grams.
The woman under investigation was later detained, increasing the total number of people arrested for their involvement in a drug trafficking crime to three.
After the inquiry was concluded, the existence of a retail drug store frequented daily by a large number of people was proven, as was the consumption of these substances in public, which had a significant impact on neighbourhood coexistence and business activity in the region.
Following the necessary police investigations, the inmates were handed over to Benidorm’s duty investigative courts.
According to the National Police, a concealed compartment, whether made by hand or by structural modification of the vehicle, is specifically designed to conceal things, substances, or effects in order to prevent their detection through visual inspection.
