A police chase in Malaga turned tragic. A National Police vehicle collided with a car carrying three fugitives who were fleeing after stealing from a pharmacy. Four persons have died.
The tragedy happened at 5:30 a.m. on an exit from the A-7 towards Torremolinos, following a chase that began in Málaga city’s northwest district.
According to the sources, it all started with a heist at a pharmacy on Calle Lope de Rueda in the Puerto de la Torre neighbourhood, where there is a special operation in place due to the high occurrence of robberies.
In what is described as a “ram raid,” the crooks rammed their automobile into the pharmacy’s exterior before fleeing in a powerful vehicle. A high-speed chase occurred, involving both national and local police forces.
The Guardia Civil is still investigating the disaster, which appears to have multiple causes. What is certain is that two automobiles collided head-on, and the vehicle in which the thieves were fleeing was clearly travelling in the opposite direction.
According to some sources, the incident occurred during the chase, while others claim that the police cars had already lost sight of the fleeing vehicle and hit it head-on with another car, which appeared to be carrying a national police officer.
As a result of the crash, both cars caught fire, killing all four occupants—three in the fleeing car and the police officer in the other—almost instantly.
