The Costa Blanca is a hive of weekend activities, beachside celebrations, and local charm as summer heats up. There is a lot to do this weekend in Alicante, Javea, Altea, and beyond, whether you live there or are just visiting for a sunny getaway. Now let’s explore this weekend’s events.
Beginning with one of the most well-known, from June 21st to 24th, San Juan bonfires will be returning to Alicante and beyond. This weekend is the main event for the renowned Hogueras de San Juan. With daily parades, fireworks, and tall papier-mâché sculptures that will be set ablaze in a fiery celebration, Alicante is the epicentre. There will be a lot of traditional food, live music, and late-night parties. Ideal for all of you night owls! Additionally, it’s a good time to remind people that Tuesday, June 24th, is a regional holiday across the Costa Blanca.

This weekend, Christians and Moors will also return to Altea, being among the most vibrant customs in Costa Blanca. Seize the opportunity to witness thrilling parades through the streets of the old town that recreate historical battles with lavish costumes, live performances and a thrilling atmosphere.
Weekend sunset markets are the ideal combination of local craft stalls, food trucks, and sea views as the days grow longer. In the evening, you can stroll along the Arenal promenade in Javea or Denia’s marina while taking in some traditional tapas and live music. An ideal way to spend an evening on the weekend.
Beach yoga and wellness sessions are now available in Calpe and Moraira for those of you who are interested in wellness. A free yoga class is scheduled for Saturday morning in Calpe at the beaches of Playa de la Fossa and Ampolla in Moraira. Bring your mat and positive energy, that’s all!

Listening to live music by the sea this weekend might be of interest to those who live closer to the Torrevieja region. This is your opportunity to take in some sunset music at Torrevieja’s Paseo MarÃtimo Juan Aparicio. Friday and Saturday nights starting at 7 p.m. will feature local bands and acoustic sets, making them ideal for a leisurely stroll while enjoying ice cream or a cocktail.
Last but not least, from June 22nd to 23rd, Elche will host the Artisan Food and Wine Fair. Now would be a great time to travel inland to Elche for a weekend of fine dining, wine tasting, and olive oil sampling if you’re a foodie like me. In addition, the fair will feature interactive workshops and cooking demonstrations by regional chefs.
The Costa Blanca offers something for everyone this weekend, whether you’re in the mood for leisurely strolls in the evening, fire festivals, or wellness. For up-to-date information on events and road closures, particularly during San Juan celebrations, remember to visit the local town hall pages or tourism offices!
