I’m lucky to have the option to work remotely on the side in addition to my teaching job at an ESL academy, which I also love. Some people can now live the kind of life they could only imagine thanks to that second recent role. From the stunning Costa Blanca, I live and work. I’ve traded in dreary commutes for golden beaches, hectic lunch breaks for leisurely tapas, and the calming sounds of the Mediterranean for the background music. In this post, I discuss what it’s actually like to live in Spain while working remotely and juggling two jobs and why the Costa Blanca has proven to be the ideal location for all of this.
While there are many sunny locations throughout Europe, the Costa Blanca exudes a unique energy. With over 300 days of sunshine annually, it provides a tranquil and fulfilling way of life. The cost of living is refreshingly low, the scenery is breathtaking, and the pace is slower. The quality of the food here is something I’ve noticed more recently and value every day. Whether you’re dining at small, family-run restaurants or shopping at the weekly markets, it’s easy to find fresh, local, and frequently organic produce. The seafood is caught nearby, the fruit and vegetables are bursting with flavour, and even a plain tomato tastes better. It’s a way of life that promotes more mindful, healthier living, which is ideal for managing a hectic schedule.

I work remotely as a features editor and content creator for Costa Blanca Daily – Everything Costa Blanca – Daily, an online magazine, during the weekday mornings. I spend the majority of my days at my desk or table in a comfortable little space with a view of palm trees and mountains and the sun shining through the windows. It’s the type of office that naturally improves your mood and inspires you to come up with new ideas. I’ll move out onto the balcony, set up under the umbrella, and work with a view of the pool on calmer mornings or whenever I feel like it. Even the busiest days seem lighter in this serene, motivating environment.
Here are a few highlights of working remotely on the Costa Blanca.
- Affordability: Compared to big cities like London or Berlin, for instance, rent, grocery shopping, and eating out are significantly less expensive.
- Inspiration Abounds: The slower pace of life and the pastel sunsets make it difficult not to feel creatively rejuvenated here.
- Pet-Friendly Lifestyle: As readers of my previous articles are aware, I adore my dogs, and they are welcome to accompany me to a variety of cafes or even on walks along the coast after the sun sets.
- Outdoor Living: After-work strolls along the beach or promenades, lunch breaks by the sea or with a view of the pool.

Of course, it’s not all sangria and sunshine – there are some real things to consider also:
- Maintaining Self-Control: Routine is crucial, and the beach is always alluring.
- Time Zones: May require early starts or late meetings, depending on who you choose to work for and where your clients or teams may be located. Even better if, like me, your entire team is based in Costa Blanca!
- Language Barrier: Although many locals speak English, particularly in tourist areas, if you’re not like me and work for native English speakers, knowing a little Spanish could make your life easier.
Here are also some top tips for making that move you may have been considering.
- Test It First: Consider a trial period of one to three months prior to a full relocation.
- Choose Accommodation Wisely: Look for good Wi-Fi, air conditioning and easy access to shops or coworking spots.
- Keep in touch by joining expat communities or local Facebook groups to network and exchange advice.
- Balanca Work & Play: Make the most of your location by spending your free time exploring historic towns, markets, beaches, and tapas bars.
Combining my other job with working remotely from the Costa Blanca has allowed me to live a life full of sunshine and tranquilly. This region of Spain provides the ideal balance between work and well-being, regardless of whether you’re a remote worker, freelancer, or business owner like me. This is your cue if you’ve ever wanted to transform your desk into a bright, sunny workstation.
