Mark your calendars! As the annual transition from summer to winter draws near, we all appreciate an extra hour in bed!
Spain will formally end Daylight Saving Time on the final Sunday in October in accordance with a directive from the European Union.

The Details You Need to Know
- When: Early on Sunday, October 26, 2025, the time shift takes place.
- The Change: Clocks will be reversed by one hour at 3:00 am, making it 2:00 am. This is the eagerly awaited “fallback,” or winter transition.
- The Result: Sunrise and sunset will happen an hour earlier. For those who rise early, this means lighter mornings and noticeably earlier evening sunsets.
The “Extra Hour” Explained
The two hours between 2:00 and 3:00 in the morning occur twice in a single blissful night. You can use this extra hour to get a head start on the day, enjoy a late Sunday morning lie-in, or just allow your internal clock to gradually acclimatise.

Why Do We Still Change the Clocks?
Until a permanent decision is made, the seasonal clock change is still observed in all member states, including Spain, even though the European Union has been debating ending it for years.
By extending daylight into the evening during the warmer months, DST was initially intended to save money. Switching back to standard time allows for more valuable daylight in the mornings as the year gets darker.
Enjoy your bonus hour, and settle in for the lovely, mild winter of the Costa Blanca!
