The Alicante Court of Appeals will hear a case this week against a man accused of raping a 14-year-old girl at a New Year’s Eve party in Benidorm. The prosecution seeks twelve and a half years in prison for sexually assaulting a juvenile. The Public Prosecutor’s Office accused him of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old friend at the time of the incident.
The rape allegedly took place on December 31st, 2022, in Benidorm, after the defendant, the victim, and other associates spent the night out. According to the Public Prosecutor’s charge, at about 4:30 a.m., the man invited the girl to his home to drink water because she was feeling ill.
While both were at the house, the defendant allegedly sexually assaulted her, despite the fact that the victim did not consent to sexual intercourse, objected at all times, and urged the defendant to stop. The trial will start today, Tuesday May 27th, in the Tenth Section of the Court.
Another sexual assault trial
This isn’t the only sexual assault case being tried today. Another defendant is in jail for sexually assaulting and punching his partner in the face and head. The attack allegedly took place in the early hours of December 29th, 2022, when the defendant went to the victim’s residence in Elche, with whom he had been in a six-month relationship.
According to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the man attacked her while she was laying in bed, tying her hands with a belt as she yelled for him to stop. According to the public prosecutor’s office, the victim was able to escape, but the defendant beat her and sexually assaulted her. This trial will take place in the First Section, which specialises in prosecuting gender-based assault crimes.
